FRIENDS

a six letter word. but carries infinity amount of meaning. wonder why./? haha. nanti i explain. just don't confuse the word FRIENDS with the hit television serial before with the same name. which made me fall for the beautiful jennifer aniston. damn you idiot brad pitt for doing bad to her. will tembak you if i ever meet you in my life. hehe. well, some say friends are angels on earth sent to make us fell better. i believe it is very true indeed. in life we cannot be a lone ranger. i have seen so called idiots who think they can be independent and do all things alone. are you crazy.?/ no man is an island. we must always have friends. and i mean many friends. even though we are close to a few. that's another story altogether. take case of me, early morning, my beloved housemates made midnight supper. then , my super rajin classmate gave me raya cookies, then my guy friend tumpang me on his motorcycle to go for breakfast with all my guys classmates. then, two of my classmates girls allow me to tumpang their car back to my apartment. well, i know what everyone is going to say, you always tumpang people .?/ haha. yes. because I'm saving up duit to beli my own ride. god willing. well, having friends in life bring cheer us. friends even understand us sometimes better then our boyfriend or girlfriend. i can be witness to that. hehe. anyway, i hendak to go and tidur now. mengantuk sangat. plus, have to go or english club at 2.30pm. malas hendak pergi. tapi have to force myself. see everyone again. take care always.

baru selesai makan.haha. ate mee goreng and fried rice and fried nuggets. both prepared by my beloved house mates. thanks for spending time at the dapur to masak for us. now plan to have a good nights rest. body sudah penat sangat. actually i dont know why. maybe because been sleeping less. well, yesterday was good. because my kumpulan have already presented our micro teaching for english skill of reading. was indeed a huge relief. have to wait for the comments today by my beloved lecturer. being a teacher is indeed not a very easy road as many people look at it. hate when i dengar comments from masyarakat like, " teacher is easy profession la, holidays also you get gaji ma, you teachers get lots of holidays,". let me explain, try switching places for one week into a teachers life. then you will rasa what teachers rasa all this while. my beloved father kerja as a cikgu for 30 years. try to spend an hour and listen to his stories about the teaching life. so teacher critics out there, need a debate.?/ just feel free to tell me. it can be arranged. haha. selamat malam everyone out there. do take care. salam perpaduan.

6 things about the movie 'Kandhasamy'

1. The concept
Kanthaswamy might not be the first movie to say this, but it is definitely an idea that deserves to be told time and again until we are close to realizing it. Uneven accumulation of wealth is one issue that has been hampering our development for decades. Statistics put India right at the top of the list of countries which have personal deposits in Swiss banks. The rest of the world would not be able to outweigh India in terms of black money, some say. The movie also emphasizes that accrual of illegal money gives unwarranted powers to few who feel no remorse in misusing it. So, Kanthaswamy indeed raises a pertinent point.

2. The Style
We always knew that Vikram was a class actor, but we never knew that he could be so stylish. Anniyan’s Remo is perhaps the only character he had played which has emphasis on style. But, Kanthaswamy has outdone all that. The blazers and the coolers sit perfectly on Vikram and he carries them off with elegance. The costumer must be applauded for some excellent work.

3. The leading lady
Well, Shriya has always been a soft target for those who don’t like the conventional arm candy type of heroines, Kanthaswamy has been no different. But, there is more to her performance in the movie than the petty criticisms. First, she is playing the daughter of a multi millionaire and she has brought out that haughty demeanor in a great way. The high handedness, the attitude and overconfident body language are all present. Of course, her dance movements will be setting new benchmarks for leading ladies in Tamil cinema, watch the final portions of the ‘Allegra’ song to understand fully what has been said.

4. The visuals
For a film that has been called run of the mill commercial stuff, the camera department has been daringly different. No one can remember an Indian film that had opted for a yellow tone throughout. We have had shades of blue and other pleasing colors at best, but yellow is definitely a new experience. Only Hollywood has tried this before. The scenes in Mexico, especially the aerial shot of three hummers atop a bridge, are extremely well taken.

5. The sets
The art department must be applauded for creating some sets that appear very genuine, especially the interiors of the CBI office, the interrogation room and other such small touches.

7. The Places
Susi Ganesan has globe trotted for Kanthaswamy. The locations are ones that have never been seen before; full credit to the team for unearthing such unseen locations and bringing them onto screen. Thanks to Kalaipuli Thanu for showing faith in the director and giving him all that he needed to make the spectacle possible.

Nama Sabah telah digunakan sejak sebelum kedatangan Bristish ke Pulau Borneo lagi. Pihak British menukarkannya sebagai Borneo Utara dan digunakan secara rasmi semenjak tahun 1881. Sabah telah digunakan semula pada tahun 1963 setelah Sabah masuk ke dalam Malaysia.

Terdapat banyak variasi bagaimana nama Sabah diperolehi. Sabah pernah dikenali sebagai ‘Sudang’ yang pernah tercatat dalam puisi Java Nagaraketagama yang ditulis oleh Prapancha pada tahun 1365. Nama Sabah pertama kali digunakan pada abad ke-15 oleh pedagang yang mengembara di antara Pulau Sulu dan Brunei.

juga nama Sabah diperolehi daripada tanaman pisang yang dipanggil ‘Pisang Saba’. Pada masa sekarang ‘Pisang Saba’ dikenali sebagai ‘Pisang Menurun’. Jenis pisang ini biasa tumbuh di sepanjang pantai barat Sabah. Dialek orang tempatan yang menyebut ‘saba’ seperti menyebut ‘Sabah’ telah menyebabkan nama Sabah diperolehi.

Sabah merupakan negeri yang kedua terbesar di Malaysia selepas Sarawak. Pentadbiran Sabah dibahagikan kepada lima bahagian iaitu Bahagian Pantai Barat, Bahagian Sandakan, Bahagian Tawau, Bahagian Pedalaman dan Bahagian Kudat.

spend more, save less

Japanese save a lot. They do not spend much. Also Japan exports far more than it imports. Has an annual trade surplus of over $100 billion. Yet Japanese economy is considered weak, even collapsing. Americans spend, save little. Also US import more than it exports. Has an annual trade deficit of over $400 billion. Yet, the American economy is considered strong and trusted to get stronger.

But where from do Americans get money to spend? They borrow from Japan, China and even India... Virtually others save for the US to spend. Global savings are mostly invested in US, in dollars. India itself keeps its foreign currency assets of over $50 billion in US securities. China has sunk over $160 billion in US securities. Japan's stakes in US securities is in trillions.

Result: The US has taken over $5 trillion from the world. So, as the world saves for the US, Americans spend freely. Today, to keep the US consumption going, that is for the US economy to work, other countries have to remit $180 billion every quarter, which is $2 billion a day, to the US! Otherwise the US economy would go for a six. So will the global economy. The result will be no different if US consumers begin consuming less.

A Chinese economist asked a neat question. Who has invested more, US in China, or China in US? The US has invested in China less than half of what China has invested in US. The same is the case with India... We have invested in US over $50 billion. But the US has invested less than $20 billion in India ... Why the world is after US?

The secret lies in the American spending, that they hardly save. In fact they use their credit cards to spend their future income. That the US spends is what makes it attractive to export to the US. So US imports more than what it exports year after year. The result: The world is dependent on US consumption for its growth. By its deepening culture of consumption, the US has habituated the world to feed on US consumption. But as the US needs money to finance its consumption, the world provides the money. It's like a shopkeeper providing the money to a customer so that the customer keeps buying from the shop. If the customer will not buy, the shop won't have business, unless the shopkeeper funds him. The US is like the lucky customer. And the world is like the helpless shopkeeper financier. Who is America's biggest shopkeeper financier? Japan of course. Yet it's Japan which is regarded as weak. Modern economists complain that Japanese do not spend, so they do not grow. To force the Japanese to spend, the Japanese government exerted it self, reduced the savings rates, even charged the savers. Even then the Japanese did not spend (habits don't change, even with taxes, do they?). Their traditional postal savings alone is over $1.2 trillions, about three times the Indian GDP. Thus, savings, far from being the strength of Japan, has become its pain.

Hence, what is the lesson? That is, a nation cannot grow unless the people spend, not save. Not just spend, but borrow and spend. Dr. Jagdish Bhagwati, the famous Indian-born economist in the US, told Manmohan Singh that Indians wastefully save. Ask them to spend, on imported cars and, seriously, even on cosmetics! This will put India on a growth curve.

"Saving is sin, and spending is virtue." Before you follow this neo economics, get some fools to save so that you can borrow from them and spend. This is what US has successfully done in last few decades.

Women's Rights 6p.m. to 6a.m.

just got this piece of news.

A young girl was raped by a man posing as a plain
clothes
officer; he asked her to come to the police station when
she and her
male friend didn't have a driver`s license to show.

He sent the boy off to get his license and asked the girl
to accompany
him to the police station.
Took her instead to an isolated area where the horrendous
crime was
committed.

In fact, the law clearly states that between 6 pm and 6am,
a woman has
the right to REFUSE to go to the Police Station, even if an
arrest
warrant has been issued against her .

It is a procedural issue that a woman can be arrested
between 6pm and
6 am, ONLY if she is arrested by a woman officer and taken
to an ALL
WOMEN police station.

And if she is arrested by a male officer, it has to be
proven that a
woman officer was on duty at the time of arrest.

It is good for us to know our rights.
To what extent it comes of use remains to be seen in any
situation.
But as they say, knowledge is power.
